Aleria restaurant

Aleria is housed in a renovated neoclassical building in Metaxourgeio, a space where contemporary design meets the warmth of Greek hospitality. Since 2006, we have been creating an environment where guests can enjoy a complete gastronomic experience, in an atmosphere that combines discreet elegance with a sense of intimacy.

The name Aleria is inspired by the historic town of Aleria in Corsica, originally founded by Greeks, reflecting our desire to create a place where history, culture, and culinary tradition converge in a space that celebrates both the local and the timeless.

The Chef

Gikas Xenakis grew up in Thebes, spending his childhood immersed in the Greek countryside, weekends spent fishing, and endless explorations in nature. Early experiences with flavors and his mother’s cooking shaped his culinary philosophy from a young age: fresh, high-quality ingredients, respect for local produce, and a love for authentic flavors.

Over the years, Gikas has devoted his life to cooking and Greek gastronomy. His passion for mushrooms, his connection to nature, and his constant pursuit of new ideas are reflected in every creation he presents.

Inspired by Greek gastronomical tradition, the abundance of the Greek earth and sea, seasonality, but also his personal memories of his childhood and his travels around the word, Head Chef Gikas Xenakis creates contemporary, delicious dishes, that structure and evolve Modern Greek Cuisine.

Wine

The wine list at Aleria is an expression of passion for winemaking and flavor. With over 400 carefully selected labels from 15 countries, it combines international choices with the richness and uniqueness of the Greek vineyard.

The list features rare varieties and producers known for their quality and authenticity, from small family-run wineries to vintages that have made their mark. Every selection is made with care and expertise, ensuring perfect harmony with our dishes and enhancing their flavors.

The list is curated by our sommelier, Despina Tokalakis, who brings knowledge, dedication, and a true love for wine to each choice, offering guests a complete and memorable wine experience.

At Aleria, we offer the opportunity to reserve exclusive areas of our restaurant for intimate gatherings, celebrations, or business occasions. Our team will work closely with you to create a personalised experience, ensuring that every detail from the ambience to the menu reflects the nature of your event with the refinement and hospitality that define Aleria.

In addition to hosting events at our restaurant, we also provide the option to enjoy the Aleria experience in the comfort of your own home. Our culinary team can design and prepare a bespoke menu for a private dinner in your space, bringing our philosophy of contemporary Greek cuisine directly to your table.
